I live there and it's almost no contest for me. It's not nearly as crowded if there is such a thing in July, but the pier is there and they're some of the nicest people there. Sure people get crazy but it happens in the summer and not nearly as often as the boardwalk. It tends to flood in the winter but nobody is there so it doesn't matter except to a few residents on South Waccamaw.
